Refreshing Chia Berry Watermelon Smoothie

chia berry watermelon smoothie

Need a nice cold refreshing drink on a hot summer day?  Dealing with inflammation and achy joints?  Need to get more calcium in your diet while avoiding dairy?  Want to stay hydrated when it is 100 degrees out?  Well, I’ve got you covered!

This refreshing fruit smoothie cools you on a hot summer day, keeps you hydrated with coconut water and watermelon, has fresh ginger which has anti-inflammatory properties (as well as having anti-cancer and antioxidation properties), and has chia seeds which are high in calcium (and did I mention high in fiber, magnesium, phosphorus, and protein too).

INGREDIENTS

1 cup watermelon pieces (fresh or frozen)
1 1/2 cups organic frozen mixed berries
1/2 frozen banana
2 Tablespoons chia seeds
3/4 cup coconut water
1 inch chunk on fresh ginger, peeled (forgot this in my picture…sorry)

smoothie ingredients

Throw all the ingredients into a Vitamix or high-powered blender and blend away.  Cool off and relax by sipping one out by the pool.  If you don’t have a pool take a pitcher of this smoothie over to your friend’s, neighbor’s, aunt’s, or whoever’s house has a pool and they will gladly let you in 🙂

Enjoy!
