Making homemade granola is very easy, and who doesn’t like easy? Granola is great as a snack, yummy with almond milk as a cereal, delicious mixed into coconut yogurt, and can be sprinkled on salads, dairy free ice cream, or just about anything to add an extra crunch.
When you read the labels in the supermarket you will see that the majority of granola found on the shelf has huge amounts of sugar in them as well as preservatives and other chemicals. Making your own granola is easy, healthier, and more cost efficient. You only need a few ingredients and can add an endless number of other nutritional ingredients to custom make it to your liking.
Here is a very simple recipe to get you started. Add some dried fruit, other nuts or seeds, different spices, or whatever you like.
2 cups rolled oats (gluten-free if you like)
1/2 cup chopped raw almonds
1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
1/8 cup flax seeds
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
2 tablespoons cinnamon
3 tablespoons coconut oil
2-3 tablespoons pure maple syrup (or honey)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Combine the first 6 dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine the next 3 wet ingredients in a small bowl. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and mix well.
Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Stir it up and bake another 5-6 minutes. As it cools it will continue to brown up and become crunchy so don’t over bake it. Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.

If you want to make it raw simply dehydrate it at 115 degrees for 5-6 hours.
