Spinach Avocado Bean Dip/Spread

Here’s an alternative to your average hummus or bean dip.  Avocado makes it nice and creamy.  It is great for dipping homemade chips and crackers or cut up vegetables.  It is also great as a spread on sandwiches.


14-15 oz Great Northern or Cannellini beans
1 ripe avocado
1/3 cup tahini
1 cup spinach leaves
juice of 1 lemon
2 teaspoons lime juice
3 garlic cloves
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1-2 Tablespoons fresh cilantro
sea salt and black pepper to taste
chopped tomato and green onion for garnish


Combine all ingredients in food processor or high-speed blender for approximately 1 minute or until smooth texture.  Top with some chopped green onion and tomato for garnish.

  1. That looks very tasty. I really like the idea of “thinning” out my “guacamole” with good things like beans and spinach. I bet it would be a nice substitute for mayo on veggie burgers too. Can’t wait to give it a try!
